Australian Aqua Dragons wins top award at International Toy Fair

Australian product developer and Worlds Alive founder Amy Holden's latest release, Aqua Dragons, has won a Best New Toy award in the Hobby category at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, as voted by the retailers attending the fair.
Aqua Dragons allows children to bring aquatic beings to life by placing them into a water tank. This awakens them from cryptobiosis – a state of hibernation in egg form – and where they will start to hatch.
Over the course of these minature crustaceans’ six-month lifespan children can watch them swim, play, eat, communicate, reproduce and grow up to two centimetres in length.
Aqua Dragons will be distributed in Australia by Modern Brands. The product will launch next month at Toy Fair in Melbourne.
From the 10th to the 13th of Feb 2013 the Aqua Dragons will be on show at the American International Toy Fair in the Javitz center in New York.
I´m trying to keep this a serious business piece of news but I cant help wanting to make a joke about New York, New York... if you can make it there.... you can make it, any where. Heres our first TV spot! The one we´ve been working on for months! Take a look and get to know the animated Aqua Dragons as they will be also appearing in apps, short animations and within games on our website. We hope it communicates our new original and live science toy well and gets kids interested in the life cycle, biology, anatomy and into caring for their little dragons babes while they grow and grow. We are also so happy to release this ad just days after Aqua Dragons were awarded Toy of the year 2013 by the Brisitsh Toy and Hobby Association!
From the 30 Jan to the 4 Feb 2013 Aqua Dragons will be showing at the Spielwarenmesse fair in Nuremberg. Spielwarenmessse is the largest toy fair in the world where the top brands and new products are presented to the industry each year. If you are coming please come by and see our presentations, we will have our NEW TV AD on show on screen and plenty of Live Aqua Dragons to play with too.
The Bristish National Toy and Hobby Association has awarded the Aqua Dragons product range the winner of
"Best new toy of 2013" for the Hobby category!

honor for us to receive the prize for the best new toy of 2013. This will be a sure eye catcher for retail distributors
as well as consumers of all ages.

Brainstorm has announced it will be launching Aqua Dragons at London Toy Fair 2013.
Much like brine shrimp, Aqua Dragons are small crustaceans that kids can hatch and grow at home. They can grow up to 2cms in length and their eggs can dry out and stay alive, only to hatch many years later when re-hydrated.
Nick Saunders, sales and marketing director for Brainstorm said: “This fun, live habitat range is a great fit for Brainstorm and really freshens up the creature habitat sector.
“Everything you need is in the box and there is no requirement for a second purchase. We´ve been working for weeks on a very special project which has already had some mentions in this blog and on our facebook page www.facebook.com/aquadragonswa but we are so excited as the time draws near that we cant help but want to share with you each step of the way this exciting process. So here is another sneak preview into the underwater world of the Aqua Dragons....A 3D animation in HD which will hit screens firstly in the form of publicity but we have big plans for our digital friends, an iphone app, short videos, a documentary about the life of Aqua Dragons and so much more.
Allow me to introduce you to the Aqua Dragon family, from left to right; Allan-tis, Shelly, Sandy, Bubbles, L-eel-a and Fin.
Hemos estado trabajando durante semanas en un proyecto muy especial que ya ha tenido algunas menciones en este blog y nuestra página de facebook www.facebook.com/aquadragonswa pero estamos tan emocionados que queremos compartir con vosotros cada paso que damos. Así que aquí tenéis otro preview de el mundo submarino de los Aqua Dragons... Una animación en 3D y HD que será realizada principalmente para publicidad pero que tenemos grandes planes para nuestros "amigos digitales", una aplicación para iphone, cortometrajes, un documental sobre la vida de los Aqua Dragons y muchas otras cosas.

On a routing search for Aqua Dragons in google, you know just to see what comes up.... Apart from our fascinating live science toys I found this beautiful drawing by an author called Sockpuff (great name!!) Heres the beautiful pic which was drawn before our Aqua Dragons were harvested and became a commercial "instant pet" product but they do look kind of similiar:
It gave me the idea to do a drawing competition.
So, on your marks, get your color pencils and GO!
Draw us your Aqua Dragons, which could be as real life or fanciful as you please. Send us a scanned image beore the end of Jan 2013 and we will collect them and post a blog entry/facebook post at the end of Jan 2013. Other fans can vote on the favorite drawing for a week and then we will announce the winner, runner up and third place.
Prizes as follows:
Winner: An Aqua Dragons Deluxe underwater world kit
Runner up: An Aqua Dragons underwater world kit
Third place: Live Aqua Dragons refill kit.
All prizes include postage to the winners address, no matter where that be.
En una búsqueda rutinaria en Google poniendo el término Aqua Dragons solo para saber qué aparecía...aparte de nuestros fascinantes juguetes científicos encontramos este bonito dibujo de un autor llamado Sockpuff. Este es un bonito dibujo que se realizó antes de que nuestros Aqua Dragons fueran creados pero la verdad es que parecen bastante similares.
Nos dio la idea de una competición de dibujo.

La producción se ha realizado parcialmente en casa para mantenerse dentro de un presupuesto ajustado ya que somos una empresa pequeña, así que es un proyecto casero pero hecho con mucho cariño y estamos muy orgullosos de nuestro logro que ayudará a comunicar Aqua Dragons con el mundo. El anuncio está en pleno montaje y se publicará en nuestra página de facebook en las próximas dos semanas ¡así que estad atentos!

If you have been reading our posts you may have noticed that we are producing a tv ad for our new experimental scientific toy the Aqua Dragons!
The production has been done partially in house to keep within a tight budget as we are a small company so it´s a very home grown project with lots of TLC and were ever so proud of this achievement that will help communicate Aqua Dragons to the world. The TV add is in editing now and will be posted here and then communicated stright on to our face book page in the next two weeks, so stay tuned...
